Rhythm of Birth provides birth doula support and child birth classes to couples in the Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Roanoke, Floyd, and surrounding areas. Shalene is a Certified Doula with Birthing From Within and is training as a Birthing From Within Mentor (Child Birth Educator).

Rhythm of Birth supports couples regardless of where (hospital, home, or birth center) or how they plan to give birth. Doulas are highly beneficial to the parents no matter the situation.

Doula Support

While as a doula she assists the couple in preparing for and carrying out their plans for birth, stays with the laboring woman throughout the entire labor, and provides emotional support, physical comfort measures, along with an objective viewpoint and assistance in making decisions.

A doula is not just for the birth day! Shalene provides 1-2 prenatal visits to gather information and discuss plans, she is 24/7 on call for support 10 days prior to beginning labor, continuous support at the onset of labor (also has back-up if needed), then after the birth she offers breastfeeding support and any other support until the new parents are comfortable for her to leave. Then she also offers 2 postpartum visits! 1 in the hospital (or home) 1-2 days after baby is
born then again in 1-2 weeks at your home. Then also is available for email and phone support after the birth. WOW, that is alot of support and care for $400, well worth it in my book!

Belly Casting

This is a great way to remember your pregnancy and how body changed during pregnancy. Belly Casting can include only your belly or your belly and breasts.

Rhythm of Birth offers Child Birth Classes. These classes are for expectant couples seeking a holistic approach. Shalene will prepare you for every aspect of birth, understanding the signs and stages of labor, recovering and planning postpartum, caring for and feeding your newborn, and much more!
